Legends of the Awakened (version a1.3)
The last couple of weeks I have been in maintenance mode, poring over thousands of lines of code, looking for places to streamline things. I did sneak in a couple of minor new features along the way:
Items: icons and tooltips
Every item now has an icon associated with it. In addition, you can mouse over an item in just about any context you see one (as a quest reward, at the end of battle, in inventory, etc.) and get a tooltip with info about that item. It all makes the UI look and feel a lot nicer, and I'm pretty happy with how things are shaping up!
Bombs!:
So I had a couple of different items in game labeled as bombs, a fire bomb and an ice bomb. You could use them in combat, but when you did, they reacted like an instant-cast spell effect, which is not what I wanted. Now, when you use a "bomb" item type, the player tosses a projectile into the middle of the battlefield, a sound effect plays, and the effect happens after the bomb hits the ground. It's not 100% finished, but it's way cooler than it was before and it will do just fine for this stage in development.
I hope to finish up my code review by the end of the month, then in March I want to put the designer hat back on and move the story forward with new content. Happy gaming, all!
